The Growing Calamity of Chronic Diseases

Taking Control of Your Health for a Better Future

It’s estimated that one out of every four individuals reading this may be affected by diabetes or pre-diabetes, or a gastrointestinal issue.

What is Chronic disease? Chronic disease examples includes diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, auto-immune disorders, hormonal imbalance, gut and skin issues, thyroid and adrenal gland disorders, brain related issues, etc.

These diseases are on the rise, and it is no longer a problem that only affects people over the age of 50. Children, teenagers, adults, and seniors are all equally at risk of developing chronic diseases. The growing number of chronic disease cases is alarming and demands our attention. As a nation, we prioritize selling our assets to avoid succumbing to diseases.

But why not prioritize our health and wellness to better manage and reverse chronic diseases? It is time to take control of our health and make choices that will lead to a better future.

Questioning Conventional Medicine : The Rhetoric of Genes, Old Age, and Family History

Challenging the Rhetoric and Excuses

Conventional medicine has long been the primary approach to treating and managing chronic diseases. It focuses on treating symptoms rather than addressing the root cause.

However, it is important to question the rhetoric and excuses behind this approach. For instance, many of us have been told that chronic diseases are genetic or a result of old age or family history. But research suggests that it is the environment, lifestyle, and habits (Epigenetics) that we follow that contribute to the development of chronic diseases.

Therefore, it is crucial to question the conventional medicine approach that recommends lifelong medication and management. By understanding the simple aspect of what we put inside our bodies and minds, we can prevent chronic diseases from occurring and reverse them if they do.

It’s important to question the rhetoric and get out of our comfort zones, especially when it doesn’t make sense fundamentally. For example, how can a medicine be for life? It should be a drug.

And why are we being told to live with a disease and be sick for life when our bodies were fundamentally designed for good health for a long period of time?

Somewhere along the way, it seems we have lost something crucial. We need to challenge these ideas and take a proactive approach towards our health and wellness, rather than accepting chronic diseases as a lifelong sentence.

What is Chronic Disease Management?

The new standard for Chronic disease management needs to focus on addressing the root cause of the disease rather than managing the symptoms. It includes lifestyle modifications, diet, movement, stress management, better sleep and light, restoring balance in the gut, cells, and mitochondria and other non-pharmaceutical interventions. It also involves patient education and empowerment to take control of their health and make informed decisions.

The easy option of popping a pill and putting off the ailment is not the solution. We need to modify our lifestyles to avoid chronic diseases altogether. The choice is with each member of society, regardless of whether they have a disease or not.

 Modifying Lifestyle Habits

Making Choices for Long-term Health Benefits

Epigenetics is the study of how habits and the environment can influence the expression of our genes. It suggests that our habits and environment can be passed on from one generation to the next. This means that if our parents had unhealthy habits, it could affect our health as well. Similarly, if we have unhealthy habits, it could affect our children’s health.

We have a choice when it comes to managing chronic diseases. We can opt for the easy and cheaper route of taking medications and managing our ailments. Or we can make changes to our lifestyles to ensure that we don’t have to rely on pills or find quick-fix solutions.

By modifying our lifestyles, we can prevent chronic diseases from occurring and reverse them if they do. This involves making choices that have long-term health benefits. These choices can include regular exercise, healthy eating habits, adequate sleep, stress reduction, and reducing exposure to toxins, inflammation and infections.

Prioritizing Health: A Choice We All Have

As someone who has experienced the challenges of promoting a healthy lifestyle to the masses through my previous venture of selling organic produce, I can relate to the struggle of trying to convince people to make healthier choices. Through my last venture, I wanted to provide access to chemical-free produce to every household, but I soon realized that the reality of the situation was different.

The choice between cheap, mass-produced produce with chemicals and fresh, organic produce that comes at a premium is ultimately up to the consumer. It’s a similar dilemma with chronic diseases like diabetes, chronic stomach, gut, and skin issues, thyroid, and even the likes of dementia, Parkinson, Alzheimer. We have the option to keep taking pills and neglecting our lifestyle, but in the long run, it’s not a sustainable solution.

As a nation, we have known to sell our prized assets to prevent a loss or surgery, but we often overlook our health and wellness until it becomes a life-threatening issue. It’s time to make a conscious effort to prioritize our health and wellness, starting with small lifestyle changes and proactive measures to manage and reverse chronic diseases.

While reversing chronic diseases such as diabetes may seem like a daunting task, it is important to remember that we each have a choice in how we approach our health and wellness. Just like the choice between cheap, chemically-treated produce and organic, chemical-free produce, the choice between short-term savings with medication or long-term savings with a healthy lifestyle is ultimately up to us.

As a society, we need to prioritize our health and wellness, not only for ourselves but for the betterment of our communities and future generations. So let’s make a conscious effort to be aware of our options, and choose wisely for a healthier, happier life.

Conclusion

In conclusion, The chronic disease epidemic in India is a serious issue, but it’s not one that we have to live with for life. Managing chronic diseases and maintaining good health is a choice that each individual has to make. While the current healthcare system provides effective treatment for emergencies and viral diseases, it seems to have fallen short in addressing the growing numbers of chronic diseases.

By challenging the conventional approach to treatment, understanding the impact of our lifestyle and environment on our health, and making conscious choices to modify our habits, we can prevent and even reverse chronic diseases.

It’s time to prioritize our health and well-being and take charge of our own health journeys. Let’s make informed choices that can lead to a healthier and happier life, free from chronic diseases and medications. Let’s choose wisely and live disease-free.
