Jowar is a grain that is often forgotten but after trying this recipe, you will never forget it! Jowar methi parathas are a delicious and healthy way to start your day.
Made with Jowar flour and filled with healthy fenugreek leaves, these parathas are a nutritious option. Jowar methi parathas can be served with a variety of accompaniments.
- Preparation time- 10 minutes
- Cooking time- 15 minutes
- Total time- 25 minutes
- Servings- 6 Rotis
Ingredients-
- Chopped Methi Leaves (Fenugreek Leaves)- 1 cup
- Jowar Flour (Millet Flour)- 1 cup
- Rock Salt- as per taste
- Coriander- ¼ cup (finely chopped)
- Chilli Powder- 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder- 1 tsp
- Cumin Powder (Jeera Powder)- 1 tsp
- Sesame Seeds (Til Seeds)- ½ tsp
- Carom Seeds (Ajwain)- ½ tsp
- Curd- ½ cup
- Oil- 1 ½ tsp
Procedure-
- In a bowl, mix the chopped leaves, rock salt, chilli powder, turmeric, cumin powder, sesame seeds and ajwain.
- To make the parathas, mix the flour with curd and knead it into a soft dough.
- Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Then, roll out parathas of desired thickness and cook on a preheated tava/griddle till both sides are evenly done.
- Brush some oil on top, flip it over again, brush oil on the other side, and roast until brown spots start to emerge on both sides and the food starts to crisp up.
